Welcome to Mujeres de Maíz — an annual women’s gathering held on Ohlone land in Watsonville, CA, August 28th-30th at the land of Shiima Koh. This event centers community care and ancestral healing, guided by healers, teachers, and practitioners, and by one another.
Join us for our third annual gathering, an ever-deepening circle of practice, learning, and ritual. This year we’re thrilled to offer a rich tapestry of workshops designed to nourish body, mind, and lineage: decolonizing our diet and animal harvesting, metalsmithing jewelry, reproductive healing, drum journeying, fermentation, native plant wisdom, embodied movement, lei po’o, limpia writing, and much more. Come to learn, to remember, to craft, and to heal—together we’ll hold space for transformation, reconnection, and celebration.
The land of Shiima koh, is based on Ohlone territory (Watsonville). The steward and your host, Ani. Shiima koh is home to several amazing community members who will be sharing their workshops at the event along with many others. Shiima koh is a BOPIC centered community space, a refuge among the redwoods, with natural spring water to drink, animals who are free range, and incredible wildlife and beaches nearby. SHiima koh also has a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, hot shower, compost toilet and an overlook of the valley. This little slice of paradise if here for those who wish to commune with the earth and old ways.
This will be a camping event please be prepared to bring your own gear, and essentials to be comfortable. You will receive an email welcome letter, details on workshop and their hosts and suggested supply list. Our first meal together will be a community experience and snacks will be provided. Town is only 10 minutes away should you need any essentials. We look forward to hosting you!
